Emma Madoff

(she/her)
  • Undergraduate Researcher

Emma is currently pursuing a B.S. in Biological Sciences, a minor in Chemistry, and a certificate in Conceptual Foundations of Medicine from University of Pittsburgh.

During her undergraduate studies, Emma has been involved in numerous efforts to jump-start her career in the science field in hopes of attending medical school after college. Before undergrad, Emma was exposed to genetic laboratory research at the Sidi Chen Lab at Yale University, where she observed a postdoc with his experiments on the joint effectiveness of the Coronavirus vaccines and the beginning stages of the Monkeypox vaccine. Experiments included ELISA, Midiprep, and various work on mice. From this experience, Emma knew that she wanted to pursue more academic research during her time at Pitt, especially in the cancer field. She is interested in expanding her knowledge on laboratory techniques and is passionate about learning more within the biomedical field.

Apart from the lab, Emma is a Pitt Pathfinder, where she is a student tour guide who participates in the ongoing recruitment of prospective students. She is also an active volunteer at the Vaccination and Health Connection Hub where she registers patients, and she is a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority and Best Buddies.

Outside of her academic pursuits, Emma enjoys hanging out with her friends, lifting at the gym, traveling to new places, and binge-watching TV shows.
