Mariah is a junior at the University of Pittsburgh pursuing a B.S. in Bioengineering with a minor in Chemistry. She is currently researching the effects of actin-binding proteins on cellular behavior. Prior to joining the lab, she researched the influence of Brassica rapa genotypes on floral microbiomes. Passionate about tissue engineering, she aims to explore the field of regenerative medicine. She is excited to work in the Gau Lab and expand her knowledge on cell imaging and analysis.
Apart from the lab, she is a member of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), oSTEM, the University of Pittsburgh Varsity Marching Band, and the Kappa Kappa Psi service fraternity. In her free time, she enjoys playing the viola and saxophone, crocheting, reading, and baking.
